There are over 20,000 Dawoodi Bohras living and working in the UAE
Dubai: Leaders of the Dawoodi Bohra community in the UAE have called on their members to invite more of their family and friends to “register the highest number of visitors by a community” to Expo 2020 Dubai, which is now in its final month.
The call was made over the weekend during the Health and Fun Run, attended by over 2,000 participants and organised by Dawoodi Bohra community, in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late Sultan al Bohra Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, on March 6 at the Expo site.
In a one-minute video clip posted on March 6 on the official twitter account of Expo 2020 Dubai, a Bohra leader pledged the community will “attend in high numbers in the last month of the Expo 2020. There are over 20,000 Dawoodi Bohras living and working in the UAE.
The Bohra leader noted “there is no other event in the world where one can visit at least 192 countries in one place” as he made a passionate call to his community to invite their family and friends and “register the highest number of visitors” in the final month of the Expo.
Expo 2020 Dubai, meanwhile, tweeted: “We are touched beyond words with the heartfelt message of the Dawoodi Bohra community. We thank you for the love and support you expressed to Expo 2020 Dubai in particular and the UAE in general.”
Meanwhile, in December last year, Sultan Al Bohra, the 53rd Al-Dai Al-Mutlaq Mufaddal Saifuddin, visited Expo 2020 Dubai and was received by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Social Development, and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai; and Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Managing Director for Expo 2020.
Thousands of Dawoodi Bohra community members across the UAE gathered at the Expo to take a glimpse of their spiritual leader. Prominent Bohra community members from abroad have also come to Dubai to meet Sultan Al Bohra.
