PNG National Day celebrated at World Expo 2020 in Dubai – POST-COURIER

Papua New Guinea celebrated its National Day at World Expo2020 in Dubai United Arab Emirates on Monday this week.

Papua New Guinea celebrated its National Day at World Expo2020 in Dubai United Arab Emirates on Monday this week.
The National Day was celebrated at the Al Wasl Plaza and was witnessed by UAE Minister for Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, his delegation and PNG Ministerial delegation led by Deputy PM Sam Basil.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister for Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan welcomed Deputy PM Basil and his delegation. He said that UAE was indeed grateful to have PNG at the World Expo and PNG’S presences enables UAE and PNG to further discuss avenues to enhance cooperation between each other and exchange views on a number of issues of common interest.
PNG Deputy PM Sam Basil thanked and congratulated the UAE Government for the successful hosting of one of the world’s largest event the Expo2020.
Mr Basil added that through the UAE Government contributions, the Expo organising committee came up with an innovate and inclusive structure that allowed smaller developing countries like PNG to participate meaningfully at the Expo.
“The UAE Government support to my country is well documented and I take this opportunity to thank the UAE Government for their support and guidance to allow PNG to tell its story and share ideas and experiences with other participating countries of the world,” he said.
He added that he believes with the connection PNG and UAE has made during the exposition journey, this will further contribute to strengthening and deepening of the existing relationships between the two countries.
The PNG National Day events culminated with a wonderful performance from the PNG Cultural group dressed in the unique cultural and traditional attires.
