PUTRAJAYA (March 21): Malaysian companies are expected to generate trade and investment potentially worth over RM32 million at the Malaysia Pavilion’s Water Week programme at Expo 2020 Dubai, said the Environment and Water Ministry (KASA) on Monday (March 21).
KASA said the trade deals could be generated from Intelligent Aqua Sdn Bhd worth about RM10 million, Potaglas Malaysia Sdn Bhd (RM10 million), Pipeco Tanks Sdn Bhd (RM10 million) and PTS Tech Solution Sdn Bhd (RM1.5 million), among others.
“The (deals) will be generated through international collaboration and cooperation programmes, product research and development (R&D) activities, as well as a memorandum of understanding (MoU),” it said in a statement Monday.
KASA said the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), as the implementing agency for the Water Week programme, which started on Sunday (March 20) to March 25, had organised various initiatives to empower the country’s water sector.
Among them are bilateral meetings and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between Malaysia and the Netherlands on March 22 to build a platform for cooperation opportunities in research.
KASA said the Malaysian government, to be represented by the National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), will sign the MoU with KWR Water Research Institute of The Netherlands (KWR).
“This agreement opens up opportunities for Malaysia to explore and enhance existing expertise as well as gain exposure to new technologies and the latest research on water resources from the Netherlands,” it said.
KASA said Expo 2020 Dubai provides a platform for the ministry to promote the country’s water services in global markets and attract strategic investments from international water services industry players for the sustainability of Malaysia’s water sector.
