The Expo 2020 team announced the decision on Twitter
Dubai: The New Zealand Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai announced that several of The Royal Family cast tested positive for coronavirus. Hence, the organisers announced, their shows have been cancelled for the safety of performers, staff and audiences.
The official Expo 2020 Dubai Twitter account carried the following announcement: “We are so disappointed to announce that several of The Royal Family cast tested positive for Covid this evening, which means we have to cancel the performances at Expo 2020 Dubai. The safety of our performers, staff and audiences is, of course, our top priority. @NZatExpo”
The Royal Family, a group under Parrs Goebel’s dance school ‘The Palace Dance Studio’, is one of the major performing groups in the line-up for New Zealand at the Expo, bringing its moves worthy of a three-time World Hip Hop Dance Championship title to Dubai.
Parris Goebel, otherwise known as PARRI$, is a New Zealand choreographer, dancer, singer, director and actress, pictured here next to Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand (right). She is famed for choreographing global hits like Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ and Sam Smith’s ‘How Do You Sleep?’
At the Expo, she has been curating New Zealand’s cultural and entertainment programmes and put together works that will serve as reminders of the country’s talent and creativity.
